Fantasy to Inspire Different Ideas

Updated: Apr 4, 2019

I've been reading fantasy ever since I was eleven years old and was given the first book in the Narnia series at Christmas. I finished it in one day and annoyed my parents until they went and bought the second one.

Today fantasy has become a huge literary genre that sometimes challenge the idea about how the world should function, with complex characters and thought provoking plots. We moved way beyond the good hero and the evil sorcerer as the basic framework for stories.

My guest today is the author of the Saga of Recluse series: L.E. Modesitt.

Modesitt is an amazingly productive science fiction and fantasy writer... With 76 books already published, he's now working on his 77th title. Join us to learn how he became a writer, what his creative process is like, where he gets his inspiration to write so many fantastic stories, and what drives him to share these stories with others.

Oh, and you will also find out if he sees himself as a black, white or grey wizard... Those things are important to know! ☺

Key takeaways:

  • Becoming a successful writer didn’t happen overnight

  • His curiosity about how things come to be is a big part of his inspiration

  • He uses stories to inspire people to think

  • Really driven writers write because they have to

  • Each book is something unique that he forges
